I didn’t know what I was looking for exactly when I searched “best podcasts.” I had to scroll through a bunch of true crime results, but the confidence of the title - How to Survive the End of the World - called to me. I needed some of that confidence, that reassurance. And, wow, do these sisters deliver. Their intelligence, calm, and poise comes through with every word. After listening to them, a part of me felt heard as well. It was healing to hear people who share my values discuss their struggles and their triumphs, especially in these difficult times.

As of this post, the US has just announced the bombing of Iran. The weather inside my body is storming. To ground that energy, I sought out nutritive media. I decided to prioritize this podcast. The content could not be more perfect. Specifically, the episode just after the 2024 election. It’s my first listen but will not be my last. Deeply grateful. Visioning a story and breathing deeply.

I consistently come away from listening to one of these episodes with my mind-body-spirit full, like one who’s just enjoyed a great feast filled with new and tantalizing flavors. Some of what I taste perplexes me and my palette isn’t quite sure what to make of it. But I trust these chefs’ discernment and challenge myself to try all the things they serve up. Digesting it all takes time and I sometimes find myself burping for days. I’m learning to embrace the indigestion and hiccups as part of the sometimes uncomfortable process of integrating new ideas and experiences. Thank you, sisters, for all that you bring to the table.

Thank you. These sisters keep it real in a way not often found in podcasts, books, medias, in other words most monetized places… They reveal their own vulnerabilities in a way I so appreciate. Dean Spade… beautiful conversation!

I get so many gems from each episode and I feel less alone as I listen. These 2 marvelous humans have such a powerful way of showing up with power, vulnerability, honesty, joy, and wit while they teach us in such subtle ways how not only to survive, but also to help others to do so as well.

I have been trying to figure out how *all this* is tied together and how the hypocrisy and lies don’t seem to matter to people. Today I listened to “Is this the rapture?”, this was my introduction to this podcast. I was aware of many of the concepts that were discussed, but the critical link (for me) was Christian Zionism. Roan Boucher did a phenomenal job weaving it all together. Incredible.

I love this podcast 💕 It feeds my soul / mind / body in ways I didn’t know I needed. My world is more dimensioned and enriched and my analysis sharper &/or more delicious every time I listen to adrienne and autumn and their amazing guests. This podcast has been my essential companion for the past 6 years. The utter brilliance of the Brown sisters, their realness, their courage and fierce compassion, make me feel part of a timeless celebratory movement for solidarity and sovereignty that is full of magical power. There may not be a better podcast for these times. There are many good podcasts by people who are aligning with the desire for whole and healthy lives. But “How to Survive the End of the World” is real in a way that none of the others approach. It just so happened that I listened out of order to a few recent episodes, first hearing Sister Peace before Sister Feud. This primed me to listen for a particular moment in the earlier, Feud episode. And even with the pre-knowledge I didn’t hear it! It was so subtle; yet – Autumn didn’t hesitate. And Adrienne followed. They are so well-calibrated to the egalitarian ethos, and have cultivated their integrity to its essentials to such a fine degree, that the guidance they provide is extraordinary.

adrienne, Autumn, and Zach: thank you for putting this out into the world. To everyone considering: no other podcast will guide you more when it comes to being in right relationship with those you love, those you struggle with, the magic of the world we live in, and the most challenging and pressing issues of our time on this planet.
Thank you for mentoring us all as we listen to the way y’all show up in conversation and relationship with others.
Witch School was deep, deep medicine for me last year. Recently, I’ve dipped back in to current episodes, and WOW. The balm, nourishment, and fodder for my fire that I didn’t know I needed.

I can not fully express the impact this show has had on me in words. I hope to do so through my actions. I have always wanted to change the world but have been confused on the how. This is my favorite new find in the podcast sphere. I’m no critic and writing why it’s “so good” is not something I know how to do well. But as we know as listeners, reviewing and subscribing helps the show get the support and growth it needs and deserves so that’s why I’m here to add my two cents that this is a fantastic podcast and you should give it a listen. Just listened to the episode apocalypse survival skills #5 on Tactical Hope where Autumn interviews the couple of people who make up queer nature who teach survival skills in myriad form particularly to QTIBIPOC. I particularly valued the essence that when difficult memories are arising, it might be because you feel safe enough to process them, so as not to be afraid, and they offered the OODA loop (OBSERVE, ORIENT, DECIDE, ACT) to assist in building metacognition and awareness to then inform action with a couple of steps in between. Generally, the conversation was beautiful and lovely so thank you.

First off, adrienne and Autumn are producing an amazing show here. I have learned so much about myself and the world through their conversations with one another and the guests they bring on. I love the space they give to difficult topics, and the thoughtful lens through which they analyze them. My one critique is that they could use a sound editor to balance the volume. They can speak very quietly at times, so I turn up my volume, and then they laugh so loudly that my ears get blown out! I truly love the laughter and I don’t want them to change, but if someone could balance the audio, this would be a much easier listen for me. The audio issue has been a huge complaint from friends that I’ve shown the show to, and I wish it could be adjusted because the content is amazing.

I’ve been meaning to write a review for a while. This show has changed my life—not in the sudden hairpin turn that phrase evokes but in a slow shifting deep within me. I listened to the first episode driving to pick up a friend from the airport in fall 2019. A few days later, another friend needed a ride, and I got to listen to it all over again, sharing it with my friend. For anyone just starting this podcast, I recommend starting with the very first episode of the first season. After that, go ahead and listen to more recent episodes, or pick whichever ones look good or go ahead and listen to them all in order, but I really think you should listen to the first one.
This podcast has been with me through so many transitions, ones that appear individual and those that are easily seen as collective. adrienne maree brown’s beautiful piece “in case it helps/ bell hooks asé” came just when I needed it. I listened over and over, letting loving tears fall easy. I love so many things about this show. I love the love that Autumn and adrienne show each other. I love the way nuance is tended to. I love how it shakes me into reckoning with the past, present and future but does not let me try to do that alone. If you’ve read this far in my review, you should really go ahead and listen to the show.

Love love love the hosts and content, and wish I could listen more often / fully!! Having autism, it’s very hard to listen due to the sound quality, sometimes the sound / volume is very very low and hard to hear, and then the next sentence someone will be scream laughing or yelling into the microphone and I have to turn it off and recover. 100% celebrate the emotions behind the delivery but find the sound changes / quality inhibits accessibility.

This is meaningful, fun, smart, convincing revolutionary optimism in times when it’s desperately needed. Listen and laugh and then be inspired to embrace change as a necessary, beautiful thing. We can do this.

This is one of my fav podcasts. It helps keep me sane through the mundane washing up / changing nappies. It always helps shape my thinking, inspires and informs. It’s serious and joyous. Thankyou to the people who make it. I’m in the UK so it’s good to hear things from other countries too

Listening to this podcast continues to expand my thinking and inspire my soul in a way that only reading bell hooks and Audre Lorde has. The deep emotional and spiritual, in addition to intellectual magnitude of this work lights my heart on fire. I recommend this podcast to anyone who will listen.

Really lovely guests, insightful conversation, cool vocabulary. I'm learning lots!
In the background, often when guests are speaking, it sounds like (I think) Autumn is making sounds like sex is gooooood! "Mhmmm.... yes....yes.....mhmmmm...yeah" sprinkled with sweet laughter. This makes me laugh so much! Bring that joy ;)
Thanks for your words.

This podcast is my dream podcast. Two radical, wise, dreamy human beings in conversation about relevant topics. I love everything else that Autumn and Adrienne produce, so to have a podcast where I can listen to them while I drive is a dream come true. So much warmth, laughter and honesty in each episode. Love love love!

Mostly, the Brown sisters poetically articulate everything I feel but haven’t been able to put into words - punctuated by OH SH*T mind-blown wisdom bombshells. It’s heaven. And hilarious. And important.

Wow I have so much to say about this podcast! It’s honestly life changing, so affirming, so courageous and so thoughtful. The work you two do to navigate, unpack, dissect, analyze, then sew everything back up to heal and digest is so incredible, all while the two of you have what seems like the most amazing relationship! The way you two sisters interact is so hope-filled and your understanding of the world is so eloquent. The way one of the sisters explains something, then the other is like “wow that was so beautiful, let’s unpack that” and the other’s like “yes girl pick those threads” and I’m like dying of laughter and joy at how genius and mindful you two are. Thank you for teaching and sharing!
